Isle of Skye Whisky Urges Scotland to Get Behind the Nation's Big Grand National Hope - ' SILVER BY NATURE'

5th April 2011

The
first big chance for a Grand National
victory for over 30 years, Isle of Skye
Blended Scotch Whisky
is proud to
be supporting Scotland's
big hope, Silver
By Nature
.

Isle
of Skye is the official sponsor of Scotland's
most
successful National Hunt yard, Arlary House
Stables and its jockeys Peter
Buchanan and Campbell Gilles.

Led
by Scotland's
most successful jump
trainer, Lucinda
Russell
and her
partner, racing legend Peter Scudamore, Arlary
House
Stables is currently putting Silver By Nature
through his final paces
ahead of Saturday's (9 April) big race. The
trainers of the 2011 Grand
National contender are confident of success at
Aintree following his win at the
Grand National qualifying race at Haydock for
the second year running,
particularly if the going is in his favour.

The
high profile support for Arlary House
Stables in the build up to its career defining
race is the latest development
in Isle of Skye's
marketing strategy to
help raise awareness of the award winning Blended
Scotch.  Isle Of Skye 8 Years
Old Blended Scotch Whisky
is
also Scottish Racing's Official Whisky Partner
and Official Whisky Sponsor of all five of Scotland's
racecourses.

The
award winning Blended Scotch is also the proud new
sponsor of the high profile Scottish
Champion Hurdle at Ayr Racecourse - the richest
hurdle race in Scotland
which will take place on
Saturday 16 April.

Lucinda
Russell said: "Silver By
Nature's form has him as one of the best in the
country right now. It is
the ideal time for him to be entering the Grand
National. He
is everything you could
want in a
racehorse: tough, resilient, scopey and sensible,
loves heavy ground and jumps
soundly.

"The
hard work of the team and support from everyone,
including the Scottish public
and especially Isle of Skye Whisky has been
incredible and really helped with
the mounting pressure of such a big race.

Scotland's
leading National Hunt
yard, Arlary House has earned a strong reputation,
sending out winners the
length and breadth of Britain,
from Perth to Cheltenham.
Owned by the Russell family, the premium quality
Isle of Skye Blended Scotch
Whisky from Ian Macleod Distillers shares more than
a family connection with
Lucinda and Arlary House.

Iain
Weir,
Marketing Director for Ian Macleod
Distillers, commented: "Both are in perfect synergy in terms of
their Scottish roots, passionate commitment to
achieving excellence and
determination to be the best in their field.

"Isle of Skye has
been working with Arlary House and Scottish Racing
for two years now and we are
ecstatic that the team is involved in an event that
captures the hearts and
imaginations of the nation. We wish them the best of
luck for Saturday and hope
to be toasting their win with a dram of Isle of Skye.

Silver
By Nature, owned and bred by St Johnstone Chairman
Geoff Brown, has been
trained by Lucinda since 2008. The nine-year-old
grey won the Grand National Trial at
Haydock and has so far won four of his fourteen
races over fences with his
level of form increasing steadily over the last
eighteen months.

No
grey has won the world's greatest steeplechase since
Nicolaus Silver in 1961
while there has only been one Scottish-based winner,
Rubstic, trained by John
Leadbetter in Roxburghshire, with victory in 1979.

Isle
of Skye blended Scotch whisky is available in 8 and
12 Years Old, limited
edition 21 and 50 Years Old. An exceptionally smooth
and mellow Scotch whisky
containing a high proportion of carefully selected
Island and Speyside Malts,
the 8 Years Old has been described by whisky expert
Jim Murray, as "an
absolute must for any Islay-philes out there - in
fact, a must for
everybody. Your taste buds are beaten up and
caressed simultaneously.  One
of the most enormous yet brilliantly balanced
whiskies in the
world.
