Isle of Skye steps up its Skye connection

Broxburn, 15 October 2008:  Following the launch earlier in the year of a limited edition Isle of Skye 21 Year Old and an exceptionally rare super-premium 50 Year Old at the Isle of Skye's most famous restaurant, The Three Chimneys, Ian Macleod Distillers has stepped up its activity on the Isle of Skye 8 Years Old Blended Scotch Whisky by offering a value- added neck collaret promotion for consumers to win a luxury weekend for two on Skye at The Three Chimneys.    The promotion will be available in the UK only on bottles of 8 Year Old Isle of Skye in the run up to Christmas.

The neck collaret is one of many initiatives that will see The Three Chimneys and Isle of Skye whisky working together.     Shirley Spear and Michael Smith, head chef at The Three Chimneys, will be appearing at the BBC Good Food Show, Birmingham on Thursday, 27 November, on behalf of Isle of Skye whisky. They will be on the Harvey Miller Wine and Spirit Agencies (HMWSA) Stand No. W180.   HMWSA distribute Isle of Skye whisky in the UK on behalf of Ian Macleod Distillers.


Spear and Smith will also be appearing at 2.00pm in the Great British Hall, demonstrating a range of dishes using the Isle of Skye 8 Year Old.  Recipes will include Michael's recipe for home-cured salmon with Isle of Skye whisky; his whisky and lemon parfait dessert and seasonal meat or game dishes using Isle of Skye.   Recipes cards will also be available to take-away and copies of The Three Chimneys cook books will be available to buy on the HMWSA stand.


Isle of Skye blended Scotch whisky is available in 8 and 12 year old (export only), limited edition 21 and 50 years old.  An exceptionally smooth and mellow Scotch whisky containing a high proportion of carefully selected Island and Speyside Malts, the 8 Year Old has been described by Jim Murray, whisky expert as "an absolute must for any Islay-philes out there - in fact, a must for everybody.    Your taste buds are beaten up and caressed simultaneously.  One of the most enormous yet brilliantly balanced whiskies in the world.â? 


The Isle of Skye 8 Year Old, is available in a range of sizes - 1.5 litre, 75cl, 70cl, 35cl and 5cl and retails from £13.49 - £13.99 for 70cl.     The neck collaret promotion will be available in Tesco's, the Co-op, independent retailers, on-trade wholesalers and cash & carries.  Consumers have to answer three simple questions.   The offer closes 31 January 2009 for entries.
