March 15 2006 SMOKEHEAD, the new contemporary whisky
that hit the UK last month, has enlisted the help of top cocktail bar Cargo in
Edinburgh to create a range of exciting whisky cocktails, including a hot
cocktail called Bothy.
A modern approach to the traditional
Bothy is made using Smokehead, hot cider
and sugar syrup. The
cocktail is expected to prove highly popular with smokers who, from 26 March,
will have to smoke outside due to new smoking laws in Scotland.
James Sutherland, bar manager of
"Cocktails are increasingly becoming the drink of choice for
the modern drinker and we think a hot cocktail is a great idea to help to keep
our smoking customers warm as they have their cigarette outside."
Iain Weir, Head of Marketing for Ian
Macleod, said, "We are delighted with the results of our cocktail
development. Due to their strong peaty taste, Islay Malts are often overlooked
when it comes to developing cocktails, however the flavours that Cargo have
developed for Smokehead work really well together."
SMOKEHEAD is a
stylish, individual and exciting whisky, available in premium bars and
retailers across the UK
and worldwide. Curious to discover more, please contact Ian Macleod Distillers
