Thanks for your interest in this opportunity with Ian Macleod Distillers. We own some of the world’s best loved brands such as Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Edinburgh Gin. If you haven’t already, please browse around our company internet pages and immerse yourself in our colourful history and sample the details of some of our exquisite brands. As we start to tantalise your taste buds and whet your appetite for a career here with us at Ian Macleod Distillers, you’ll really get to understand just why our team members and customers are indeed so passionate about all things Ian Macleod!

It’s a very exciting time here at IMD – we are currently experiencing growth and as our markets mature, our business continues to evolve and move from strength to strength! We have even bigger plans ahead of us. With our brands being key to our ongoing success, we have now introduced a new role into our overall business structure… the role of Brand Manager. This role will specifically look after our Tier 2 brands including King Robert, Cheiftain’s, Sheildaig, Pig’s Nose and Sheep Dip.

As a brand manager, we are expecting great things from you, especially as you will be representing our greatest assets… our wonderful brands! You will live and breathe each of our brands and will consistently exude significant passion and enthusiasm, levels of which you will naturally pass on to our new and existing customers, clients and internal stakeholders. We will be expecting you to effectively identify and manage particular brand trends and proactively and creatively develop the future of the brand. You will also be responsible for managing, coordinating, further developing and adapting the brand strategy for the brand portfolio within both home and export markets. Key elements of your role will therefore focus on

  • Brand Evolution
  • Brand Identity and Integrity Development
  • Leadership and Engagement

So what will it take to be successful in this role?

It’s essential that you have extensive previous experience operating as a leading edge brand director/manager and that you have been successfully operating at a senior level for a growing recognisable FMCG brand. You will also need to demonstrate that you have previous experience of developing brand plans for ultimate submission to board level stakeholders and that you have well refined project management skills. We also want to see that you have been at the top of your game in regards to successfully coordinating brand/s across multi-disciplinary functions in mid-sized businesses and that you’ve also successfully managed and led external agencies. Ideally we’d also like to see that you have experience of working with brands in the likes of Visitor centres and that you have been involved in External events management and planning activities. We’d also like you to have experience in e-marketing using a range of channels and that you have export experience and have managed wider brand support teams and functions.

You’ll have the knowledge and proven experience of what it takes to nurture and develop a rapidly growing brand and solid commercial experience as part of your toolkit. You will also need to have solid and well-rounded business acumen, knowing your way around your P&L. You will need to have the ability to structure effective and cohesive customer focused proposals and have significant knowledge of effective route to market pressures and requirements. We need you to be able to demonstrate that you are a general ‘all-rounder’, understanding all aspects of delivering brand growth through appreciating, identifying, understanding and documenting internal and external customer needs.

Aside your previous experience and skills, you will be a fantastically effective communicator and be comfortable presenting your ideas and proposals to a variety of internal and external stakeholders including potential new customers, writing, discussing and influencing professional and compelling brand plans. You will need to be able to effectively align the commercial sales team behind the brand development plan and be comfortable and effective in preparing business cases for additional brand support and development costs. Your personality and enthusiasm will engage all business functions in the support of your brand plan objectives and we need you to be able to interpret brand performance information and translate into appropriate brand actions. Naturally as we focus on both the home and export markets, we will need you to be in a position to be able to travel across the UK and internationally to support and develop relevant markets. Above all else, you will need to be able to show us that you have a flair to think entrepreneurially in a rapid and developing spirits sector!

Still interested?... Of course you are! This simply is just one of those rare to market opportunities where you will be able to join an international, entrepreneurial, brand-led, successful and respected family business, and a role that simply cannot pass you by if you are an experienced and successful brand guru!
