History
Bladnoch is Scotland's most southerly distillery. It's water comes from the Bladnoch river. The distillery is located close to the village of Wigtown in the South West.
The distillery was founded in 1817 by John and Thomas MacClelland within the precinct of their farm but has experienced hardship in the past years. It was finally shut in 1993. A certain Mr. Armstrong, from Northern Ireland, looking for a holiday home in Scotland, came across the distillery by chance and fell in love with the place. He purchased the distillery in 1999. Since then, the distillery has been re-commissioned, and it's first distillation was casked in December 2000. It's production is limited to a few months in the year during the summer for a total of 100,000 litres of pure alcohol.
