History:
Built in 1957-60 on the site of a corn mill. It was to be one of the first of a new generation of malt distilleries built since Victorian times, with gas fired stills, and computers to assist with the production control. Originally designed with three stills for triple distillation, the distillery added 2 extra stills in 1970 and moved to double distillation. It then added computers in 1980 to control milling, mashing and eventually distilling. The distillery is next door to its ancient sister distillery, Strathisla.
